About Vivian
I grew up on the west coast of British Columbia and enjoyed a childhood full of adventures in nature: whether in my own backyard, day trips to the beach, or excursions through the mountains. This sense of adventure continues to prevail throughout my adulthood. Wherever I may be in the world, the ocean is not that far away. Whether I am snorkeling with sea turtles in the Caribbean, or sketching on location in Mexico, I am constantly being inspired by new experiences. A lot of my artwork reflects my love of seaside living. When I am not sailing around the globe, I enjoy painting and refining my artistic skills. In 2008 I decided to apply to the IDEA program at Capilano University.
Versatility is something I strive for when it comes to my illustration style. Brad Holland once said that styles are lost and found every day. After three years in IDEA, I can now proudly add Photoshop and Illustrator to my repertoire of art tools. Although I enjoy working digitally, I also take pleasure in working with my hands and getting the paints out whenever I have the chance. I have found that music plays a big role in my creative process and is often the theme of many of my illustrations. The thrill of new projects continues to excite me – I’m always eager to see where the journey and the creative brief will take me.
