Hey Marcy, the best advice I can give you is network, market, self promote. There is a really strong case for self promotion in any form of publishing. It is all about getting your name out there, connecting with others, and developing your brand.

You can go three routes really, 1) You can send your manuscripts to agents and publishers in an attempt to get picked up by traditional printers. 2) You can self publish, and promote your work on your own. 3) You can find online alternatives to traditional publishing, but these largely require self promotion for success.

Any way you slice it the game is a lot of work, but the rewards can be great. I myself am a proponent of self publishing and online publishing, as I see the current publishing industry as ossified and out of touch with the current market space and direction of media consumption.
