I received my AA from El Camino Jr. College, Lawndale, and a BA in History, with an English minor, from Cal State University at Long Beach, CA. My writing career officially began with my first published book, PAM (Publication Consultants), named after my eighth-grade daughter who died in a sudden auto-pedestrian accident in 1983. My husband Paul and I retired to Boise, ID after 28 years in Anchorage, AK. to be closer to our two surviving sons and their families.
Synopses of PAM and Hope Renewed, followed by excerpts:
In PAM, a family miracle unfolds, unveiling a God Who actively and directly redeems--even uses--their loss for good. In the process, healing and restoration powerfully emerge to transform hopeless grief into inspired conviction that there is--indeed--Life Beyond Death, Joy Beyond Grief.

"An anxious voice accosts a young mother as she
picks up the phone. An elementary school secretary
notifies her that her daughter Pam may have been in a
serious accident. But why this call when Pam, a middle
schooler, rides a public, not a school bus, home? Yet
because this secretary takes the time to phone her,
this mother responds to her suggestion to immediately
call 911.
Was the dispatcher awaiting her call?! His dis-
concertingly accurate questions, punctuated with pro-
gressively detailed and accurate information only she
could know, lends credence to that impression. Initial
relief that the victim, first described as someone far
younger, dissipates before a parent's worst fear: has
the unthinkable truly happened? To them?"
Hope Renewed: Picking UP the Pieces After Loss equips the reader to survive a personal loss and better understand ourselves and each other's struggle in loss. Among many things, it confides the best way to break the bad news, explains how shock is really a gift in disguise, describes what body mapping is, and shares what corrodes a marriage after a child dies. Finally, it reveals why closure is not closure, and how love is constant beyond death.

" LOVE CONSTANT BEYOND DEATH
Would our younger son Brad, only four when his sister died, completely forget her, essentially severing their strong bond? Years later, that worry still insistently haunted me...
"Mom, could you edit an English paper for me?" Brad's voice came over the phone one fall evening, calling on my custom of editing his student papers online now that he attended college out of state.
Perusing his latest report, I paused at the phrase 'love constant beyond death.' Breathlessly I read on, 'I have always believed in its meaning. My belief stems from the death of my sister 17 years ago. My love for her has remained constant beyond death. If I were of the mindset that death is the end of everything, I might believe in the title, Death Constant Beyond Life (a book he was critiquing) and the logic it conveys. Thankfully I [do] not...
Astounded, I drank in a brand new possibility: Can we truly compensate for lost memories by bathing them in a loyalty and love that transcends the mists of time? "
