Bio

A native of Portland, Oregon, I have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past twenty-five years. By turns I’ve been a lit major, a submarine sailor, a dues paying member of the musicians union, and the president of a mortgage bank. A long time student and fan of the hardboiled/ noir genre I have sporadically published critical essays on such authors as Ross Macdonald, Chester Himes, Jim Thompson, Ross Thomas, et cetera, in such periodicals as Mystery Readers International, Murderous Intent, and so forth. At Bouchercon I was the moderator of a panel discussion on the works of Ross Thomas the year he was posthumously granted the title of Grand Master. A tape of that panel with me, his widow Rosalie, and his long time editor, Bill Malloy of Mysterious Press, is available through Tree Farm Downloads.
