Hello,



I'm a children's author from Australia. I have been writing fulltime now for 18 years and have 67 books published. They cover a wide range from picture books to novels, non-fiction to poetry. Many have won awards or been translated. I also write for children's magazines. I enjoy the challenges that writing throws up and I love trying to understand the creative process. I read once there are two sorts of writers, those who love story and those who love language. For a long time my work was heavily weighted with language while the story languished. Once I understood that, I was able to strengthen my work by attending more to the story. However, I have a great love for poetry and picture books, both of which require a passion for language, so ultimately both benefit from my intrinsic love of words.I work at least five days a week, average time length from 9am -till 4pm. There's no other job I would rather do!
