Raised on a farm in Kanas, I knew I wanted to "make stories" when I was very little, maybe two or three. I am dyslexic so it took me a while to learn to read and write. In the meantime I composed stories at night while I was going to sleep. By fifth grade I had written my first story (and I still have it!). In eighth grade I wrote a story and showed it to my teacher, he never returned it and I still miss it. In high school I wrote a play which the drama teacher wanted to produced, I was not confident enough to agree. The script was not returned. My first poems were published in high school. That continued in college and news articles of mine began appearing in newspapers. Since that time my work has been published in a dozen countries in four languages, this includes stories for children. One of which has been reprinted several times. I enjoy putting the names of my children and grandchildren in my stories so they can read about "themselves!" They enjoy it too!
I can't stop reading (even grocery bags) nor can I stop writing (on any scrap of paper I can find). It is the central part of my life.
