David G. Armstrong, DPM, PhD (Born 18 February, 1969, Santa Maria, California, USA) is Professor of Surgery and Associate Dean at the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago. Armstrong also holds a Masters of Science in Tissue Repair and Wound Healing from the University of Wales College of Medicine and a PhD from the University of Manchester College of Medicine, where he was appointed Visiting Professor of Medicine.
Armstrong is Director of the Center for Lower Extremity Ambulatory Research (CLEAR) [1]. He has produced more than 230 peer-reviewed research papers in more than two dozen scholarly medical journals as well as over two dozen book chapters and is co-Editor of the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) [2] Clinical Care of the Diabetic Foot.
Armstrong has won numerous awards, including the APMA's [3] John E. Green and Meritorious Service Awards as well as the Inaugural Georgetown Distinguished Achievement Award in Limb Preservation award [4]
Armstrong was selected as one of the first six International Wound Care Ambassadors and is the recipient of numerous awards by national and international medical organizations. He is past Chair of Scientific Sessions for the ADA’s Foot Care Council, and a past member of the National Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association as well as an active commissioner with the Illinois State Diabetes Commission. Armstrong is the founder and co-chair of the International Diabetic Foot Conference (DF-Con) [5], the largest annual international symposium on the diabetic foot in the world.
Dr. Armstrong serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association [6] and Editorial Board to The Foot & Ankle Journal [7], the first open access journal in foot and ankle medicine and surgery.
