About Mark
I am an artist, who since the age of 4 has been making my way into the art world. By the standardsof this world I have very blessed with what someconsider success. I have made all types of sculptures, paintings and other medias-furnitureand designing of household items . Many of you might know my work, but not my name, butI would prefer not to live in the current tense. Most people know me for the things that I designedand made. There are a few in museums in NY andLa and I've heard a few others who have some of my work , but this matters little to me. My true success is that for 40 years I have made things that people liked enough to purchaseand help support an artist.Although my visit to the Maryland Institute in Baltimore was a brief one, I thought enough aboutit that will be in my upcoming book about "Art"...This is not just another book about art, but onethat is a guideline for artists, who are on theirway to finding their place,. For some they are not sure that they are artists, and for others they only wish to learn more about art and how you make it.I have given lessons in metal sculpture, starting in the 1969 and for every year after that,as thethurst for this seems to never end. The seed of artis not always planted in everyone but everyonecan find some level of enjoyment in art. There is another project that I am working on, that is not finished yet, as the direction of this seemsto change, as many art projects do. I had anidea to write a book about children and how theylearn that they are diffierent and unique. There is only "One" (copyrighted 2008 MAY & His Heirs").I have written several versions and had anillustraitor to do some primlinary sketches for the book. I need to re-start this project ,but proabalynot until the fall, as this summer I am busy witha new large garden, and framing of 300 paintingsfor a show I want to do. This is my 45 year in making art and my wish was to have a one man show before I go to the promise land. I am still talking to musems , but this process is slow, but I still have hopes.I am open to speaking to other writers, illustraitorsor artists about these and any ideas that mightcome from it.I amfrom Washington DC and grew up in the woods of Rock Creek park with my two dogs and friends. I attended, if you will allow that word , Kensington Junior high , where I spent the day in metal shop, after that BCC (Bethesda Chevy Chase High school, and then the MI/Baltimore. School was not really tailored for artists in those days, so as most artists did, I made my own way.Well Thats it for now, Shalom ,Mark
