About Lisa
Hello out there! Here's what you need to know about me:
I'm a writer (and an editor) and I love books - reading them, writing them, collecting them (but, unlike my husband, not smelling them...).
I've been a freelancer since 2002 and I specialise in children's non-fiction: 'how to', reference, magazine-style books (especially for teenage girls), curriculum-linked workbooks (KS1), preschool, puzzle/quiz/joke books...you name it, I've probably written about it!
I have written over two hundred books and worked on many more. I'm the kind of writer that fills a publisher's gap - if you don't have a specialist on a particular subject, that's where I jump in. Especially with random subjects that don't always HAVE a specialist - silly stopwatch games, spy codes, hosting a sleepover, playing cat's cradle, filling 64pp on the general topic of 'slime' - to give a few examples.
I have worked with some of the industry's top names - Scholastic, Dorling Kindersley, Egmont, Ladybird, DeAgostini, Parragon - but I love working with the smaller, friendlier companies too. Many of my favourite books have been done with Tony Potter, Red Bird, Top That, Miles Kelly, Ticktock, Small World, Brown Watson, Holland and Autumn Publishing.
So if you're looking for a jack-of-all-trades, here I am!
