Hi there, my name is Stephen Hitchen, and I'm an illustrator specialising mainly in narrative and cartoon imagery. After 3 years of study in Wales, I graduated from NEWI with a degree in Illustration for Children’s Publishing. Now residing amidst the beautiful scenery in Longnor, near Buxton - my spare bedroom has become my studio/office, as a means of establishing myself as a freelance illustrator.

My work consists of a mixture of traditional and digital methods, usually beginning with a pencil or ink drawing, which then get scanned or photographed into the computer and painted digitally.

I aim to experience a broad range of roles as an artist - be it an illustrator for children’s books, storyboard artist, concept artist for games and film, amongst other possibilities. One of my ambitions being to someday write and illustrate my own comic/graphic novel.
