Dorman T. Shindler has been a part-time, freelance writer/book critic since 1994, and a full-time writer since 2001. He has have written reviews, book review columns and author profiles for over a dozen American newspapers, including "The Seattle Post-Intellgencer," "The Denver Post," "The Dallas Morning News," "The St. Louis Pos-Dispatch," "The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel," "The St. Petersburg Times" and "The New Jersey Star-Ledger." As a profiler of writers, Shindler interviewed (often more than once) well-known and best-selling writers such as John Irving, Stephen King, Patricia Cornwell, Michael Crichton, Nevada Barr, James Ellroy, Martin Cruz Smith, George R.R. Martin, Ann Rule, Candace Bushnell and Harlan Ellison. His author profiles and articles (ranging from travel pieces and human interest to child care and investigative journalism) have appeared in a variety of magazines, from "Better Homes & Gardens," "Book," "Pages" and "Costco Connection," to "Kansas City Magazine," "5280," "Publishers Weekly" and "Tattoo." Shindler has also done some freelance publicity work and editing for several publishers, including Putnam and Subterranean Press. A number of Mr. Shindler's articles and profiles were reprinted in THE WRITER'S HANDBOOK (2002, 2003 and 2005) as well as CONTEMPORARY LITERARY CRITICISM, Volume 215. In addition, Shindler was the editor for THE BEST OF PHILLIP JOSE FARMER (Subterranean, 2006), and has been listed in WHO'S WHO IN AMERICA since volume 59, in 2005.As of 2008, he lives in Australia. After a brief period of silence in late 2007 (while he was in the process of moving from America and resettling in Australia), Shindler has (finally) resumed his freelance writing career. He is determined to master the "art" of driving on the lefthand side of the road.
