About Jason
I have been writing for children for the last twenty years. Only recently did I decide to introduce some of my characters into the world.Currently, I have several PB manuscripts visiting the slushpiles of a handful of agents. My main focus has been with picture books though I am branching-out into the world of young readers and middle grade.
I have a lovely girlfriend named Brittany (see profile picture). She is the love of my life!
I am the proud father of four beautiful daughters ages: 23,13,12, and 1. They are a constant source of inspiration! I am often asked if I ever wished for a boy to which I reply: I have painted so many fingernails, curled so many locks of hair, and was the guest of honor at so many tea parties I would not know where to begin with a boy!
Current manuscript titles on the 2010 Slushpile Tour:
"Marlin McBluster: Meteor-What-A-Gist"
When Marlin McBluster woke to find his mother squeezing toothpaste in his oatmeal and his father giving the neighbor cat a bath in maple syrup, he knew there was trouble on the horizon. As a storm approaches Marlin must race to find a way to quell his parent’s fear of thunder and lightning. Through a love of science, an encouraging school principal, and a little ingenuity, see if Marlin has what it takes to save the day!
"A Wish on a Starfish"
An early January meteor shower brings a mysterious gift to a young girl with a believing heart – if only her brother still believed. As she journeys through the early morning darkness with her grandmother, she has no idea what awaits her on the other side of a large sand dune. But as the morning sun rises and crawls slowly ashore, the little girl soon finds that the strange lights that had fallen from the sky were more than just meteorites.
"Toshiko's Flight"
Toshiko dreamed of one day taking flight with the seabirds. But when her father, the Village Fisherman, dies and her brother Kaito takes his place, he puts an end to what he calls “foolery,” and forces Toshiko to work beside him day after day. Not heeding an earlier warning from his father, pride and greed fill Kaito’s heart and soon, the angered spirits of the deep take away all of the fish leaving the villagers hungry and grumbling. After a late night visit from the spirit of her father, Toshiko learns that she will soon be called upon to help her brother and bring fish back to the village. Through spirit and great courage, Toshiko saves the day!
