Gene's fiction has been published by Highlights for Children, Heinemann, Weekly Reader, and IUniverse.
His adult fiction has also been published by Avatar Review, Fast Forward Press, Forge, and The Write Room. He is a published member and listed speaker of the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators.
The Family That Wasn't is Gene's first novel. He describes it as "a humorous fable of how our families live inside us." Though geared for middle grades (ages 8-12), it will also appeal to readers of all ages. The sequel to this novel, My Vacation in Hell, is for young adults and is definitely a much darker read. It is a dark comic tale of a young man's journey through hell. It follows the adventures of John Boggle, two years later, as he attempts to deal with the sexual abuse he has endured. Gene lives in Chino Valley, AZ, where he is currently working on a collection of stories for young people of all ages.
