Emel was born in 1979 in Hanover, Germany. She graduated with a BA in Graphic Design from Dokuz Eylul University in 2004. She has been studying with a MA in Graphic Design from Dokuz Eylul University since September 2009.She has been working as a freelance illustrator since 2002 and worked in Istanbul between 2004 and 2008. She has been illustrating children’s books in Izmir since 2009. She prefers to use digital colouring, ecoline, gouache and coloured pencil techniques for her illustrations. She's been enjoying collecting pictured books from all ever the world. As a result, there is no empty area on her home's walls because of the bookshelfs. Drawing for children is the only thing that makes happy her. Her dream is feeding a Kiwi bird and Kea Parrot in New Zealand's endless green fields. So she wish to meet an author who likes stories about Kiwi birds one day.
She has illustrated many stories and textbooks for preschoolers, juniors and teenagers.
