I'm an illustrator, designer, writer and educator in St. Louis, Missouri.

I started working as a freelance illustrator and designer when I was 14; it's what I've wanted to do all my life.
I studied illustration at the University of Kansas under the great children's book illustrator Thomas B. Allen. After graduating, I landed a job at the Kansas City Star and Times newspaper, where I produced illustrations for features and editorial pages.
After several years, I moved to St. Louis to work for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, where I worked as a staff artist and eventually became Illustration Director.

These days, in addition to freelancing, I am an Associate Professor of Graphic Communications at Meramec College, where I teach illustration, drawing, design and portfolio.

I'm comfortable in all common illustration media -- both traditional and digital -- and work in many styles to suit the project at hand. I have produced literally thousands of published illustrations in the past 20 years, for various books, magazines and newspapers around the country -- each one a pleasure for me.
