About Dena
Hello everyone.

My name is Dena and I have been writing for as long as I can remember. Literally. My parents still have a stack of stuff I wrote as a child stashed somewhere in their attic. I won some awards for my writing in elementary/middle school but then I stopped my creative writing until I went to college. I went to college and earned a degree in Journalism- but it wasn't the kind of writing I enjoyed. I didn't realize this until it was too late. One of my last classes I took while still a student was a creative writing class in the English department. In the class we were asked to write a short story, print out enough copies for everyone and read and critique each other's work. I loved every single minute of it. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed creative writing- and I was amazed that people actually wanted to READ what I wrote!
I graduated with my journalism degree, got a job in a completed unrelated field (as you do!) , got married and have since had two children- and from the minute my kids were born I began writing books for them. Books that they can enjoy- and that their own children can enjoy someday. I have printed off a lot of them and stapled them together- that's as close as I'll ever get to "self-publishing"...HA! My husband and mother got a hold of some of my stories and they have really pushed me to try and get published. I have sent my work off to a few literary agents but I'm basically BRAND SPANKING NEW at this! Jacketflap is my first stop. I have no idea what I'm doing- but I'm willing to learn and make the necessary connections- and basically do what I have to do in order to become a published author- because that's what I want to be when I grow up! :-)

Hi Dena,
I've been out of the loop for a while, so I'm certain I've missed quite a bit on your blog. I hope to get back into the swing of things but I've too many hobbies!
Anyway, wanted to wish you a Happy New Year...Hope it's a great one.+
