My name is Catherine Urdahl, and my first book, "Emma's Question," is now out. The book is about a girl dealing with the illness of her grandma--a loving, quirky woman who takes her out for bagels, makes up stories about the people at the next table, and never says, "That's enough questions, Emma." The inspiration for the book was my family's experience during my mom's brave battle with ovarian cancer.

My second book, "Polka-dot Fixes Kindergarten," is about a spunky girl who strolls into kindergarten with her fix-it-kit (just like Grandpa's) and discovers that solving kindergarten problems takes more than duct-tape, runny soap, and dotted bandages. This book is scheduled for publication in 2011.

Charlesbridge is the publisher for both books. My truly wonderful editor is Randi Rivers.

I live in the Minneapolis area with my husband, two daughters and pet rabbit.
