Lisa Maddock has written the second book of her Teddy and Pip Story series. The name of it is, The Bridezilla Who Stole Christmas. It is a lovely story that naturally follows the first book, A Tale of Two Guinea Pigs.

The story becomes a mystery as everyone is all in a hustle to get ready for Christmas and the big wedding for Amelia and Wally. Teddy and Pip, their two little Guinea Pigs, begin to feel lonely and neglected as there was little time left for them. They felt their world was turning upside down, again! But Pip saves the day. In doing so, he causes a lot of confusion for Evelyn, Amelia’s sister, who was in charge of the wedding and for the wedding planner. The whole big event gets called off at the last minute and not by the bride or groom! But who?

Clues were shared with the group of friends and nine year old Molly begins to figure out the answer to the mystery, which will be a surprise for every reader! Then they all come together to re-plan the wedding that Amelia really wanted all along.

The story is a mystery but also includes the Spirit of Christmas. In all the commotion of the wedding planning, Amelia had not decorated at all and Teddy and Pip really wanted to celebrate Christmas. Molly helped them decorate and celebrate. I really liked Teddy and Pip’s version of the Christmas Story and the manger scene. Their Christmas Story ends with, “All was good. Baby Jesus came to be the best in the world and the animals saved the day. The end.” Teddy and Pip also write several Christmas songs and re-word the story, The Night Before Christmas, in Guinea Pig style. It is a wonderful and touching story for all ages.

This is the first in a series of Friends in the Meadow books. Each book will focus on a different animal usually in a story form with true facts about the animal added for educational purposes. These children’s books will be appropriate for reading to preschoolers. They will also be entertaining to older children. Pre-teens even like them! Most of the books will offer an activity or two relating to the animal, story, nature or environment and some type of award for completing the book and activity. We look forward to offering the second book!
