Helen Page was born in Charleston, West Virginia on Oct 1, 1909. She graduated from Pratt Institute in New York City and became an illustrator of greeting cards, children's books, and paper dolls.

Her artwork, generally in water colors, has a gentle serene quality, with pastel colors that seem to glow.

Among the many story books she illustrated for the publisher Lowe Corporation during the 1940's were The Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat, and Wynken, Blynken and Nod (1945). Some of her most popular commercial paper dolls were Romance, a set of eight dolls, and Little Women, the four girls from Louisa May Alcott's classic novel. These early paper dolls are very collectible today, commanding high prices on auction sites. She also created many paper dolls for doll magazines and collector's conventions.

At the 2007 International Paper Doll Convention in San Antonio , Texas, Helen Page was honored with the Fanny Gray Award for lifetime achievement in paper doll art. Still painting at age 98, she created a special souvenir paper doll distributed to the convention attendees.
