The Rescue Barn series is based on actual , real characters that are in the care of a real animal rescue group. The stories are based on actual events . The only fictional events are the authors interpretations of the animals thoughts and motives. Each animal that comes to the barn carries their own history and have a story to tell.
The Wilson family houses the adoption site for the Humane Society of North Texas in conjunction with their boarding facility , Six D Ranch Horse Boarding. Johanna Wilson (Miss Jo) volunteers and helps Dawn Foil, who is the equine coordinator for HSNT, with the housed rescue equine, donkeys and various livestock. It is a family commitment and Mr. Terry Wilson, along with daughters Michala and Cassidy all help to make everything work. Although it can be labor intensive at times, the lives of the animals in their care have inspired and blessed the Wilsons and everyone who comes to the barn. The stories unfold before Johanna every day and beg to be told. It is the sincere hope that sharing the lives of these very special animals bless many children in years to come.
