Steven Burton, prominent sports' commentary in New England, was one of five children growing up in a Boston suburb under the watchful eyes of Ron and JoAnn Burton. Ron Burton, of course, was a huge football star with the Patriots, and Steven had a lot to live up to!
In fact, Steven was so resourceful in his endeavors that he easily became the center of attraction wherever he was and in control of whatever situation surrounding him.
On being assigned a four-page book report on Christopher Columbus by his third grade teacher, Steven began with the statement that "Columbus sailed the ocean blue, in the year 1492, " that "Columbus left from Spain with three ships..." Having added that "The three ships crossed the Atlantic Ocean towards an unknown country later America," Steven had no more to say because he had not read the assigned book. So, he filled the remaining four pages with the phrase "on and on" and concluded by re-stating, "He [Columbus] sailed on and on until he finally reached America. THE END!"
As Elizabeth narrates the various stories about her younger brother, the reader is quick to discover that, very much like their famous father, Steven did not fall far from the apple tree.
