From the supplier: A case study of Internet-based collaborative learning in a kindergarten through sixth grade classroom environment is presented. Teachers found that dedicating time to learn new hardware and software tools could be nearly impossible, and the school's lab of 24 Windows 95 machines was not especially useful despite its state-of-the-art software and ADSL Internet connection. School staff also found that teaching students how to use a particular piece of software or code in HTML made them focus on the computer itself rather than the content. Educating parents about the potential of the Internet was another challenge. The school chose the software program Zebu for its ease of teacher training and Internet integration, slowly integrating the Internet into existing classrooms. Zebu let teachers flexibly design projects that met a variety of needs. It is now used by all grade levels within the school, which has received help from Learning Systems and MC2.
