Just Batty is the endearing story about a caring young boy named Hayden, who learns about bats in school and how they are struggling to survive in a world filled with ecological pitfalls. Hayden lives on the family farm with Mom, Dad, Granma, Grampa and Uncle Kevin, who all join in supporting his project to help the bats. Together they build a bat box and make a home for these fascinating creatures of the night. Their farm is located near a small town where everyone knows everyone else, and the neighbors care and watch out for each other. Characters from this small town will appear in future books by this inspiring new author, who says, "With books we can go anywhere and be anyone." Brenda M. Spalding is writing this book series for her grandson, Hayden. "I wanted to leave something for Hayden that he can say, 'My Granma wrote that for me.' I want to show how little things we do for others, whether people or animals, can make a difference." She adds, "The world around me is my inspiration: a season of the year, the colors of the sunset or the wonder of my grandson seeing a fly for the first time and trying to catch it.
