Jimmy (Shorty) Mosley was born August 27, 1945, near Gilbertown, Alabama. He was raised a sharecropper's son on farms in Alabama and Mississippi. His family moved to Mississippi when the author was about four years old, and Shorty has resided in Mississippi near the town of Quitman on his parents' old homeplace for the last twenty-seven years with his wife, Beverly. Jimmy and Beverly have six children, thirteen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. The author has held many jobs during his working career, the last being a professional truck driver. After retiring from public work for health-related issues, the author enjoys writing. He has always loved to write poems from way back, and since 2005 has written four books, the last one being a collection of those poems and their inspirations. He plans to have a book for children published in the near future.
