Grandpa lives in a little cabin on the pond that comes alive in the spring with the life, beauty, and sounds of nature. Grandpa takes care of his grandchildren after school each day while their mother works and by example, helps Casey and Dana develop a sense of responsibility to and interest in the magnificent world of nature. Conversely, we see that the grandchildren give grandpa joy and a wonderful sense of pride and self-worth.
