Written especially for children ages 3-8, It Will Come Back to You is a poem told by a grandmother to her young granddaughter. The scriptural theme can be found in 2 Corinthians 9:6 (NIV): "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously." While preschool-aged children will be able to grasp the message behind the grandmother's poem, the colorful and detailed artwork will appeal to readers of all ages. Children will enjoy finding the animals and hearts hidden within the illustrations. Avid gardeners will be able to name the flowers found throughout the book and to appreciate the pairing of certain flowers, such as forget-me-nots, with certain scenes. As the lesson the grandmother is trying to instill progresses, the imagery flows from the concrete, such as the girl throwing a ball to her brother and getting it back, to the more abstract qualities of love, helpfulness and kindness. There are several wordless pictures near the conclusion of the book that further personify these characteristics while encouraging discussion and use of imagination.
