MoreAuthor, Marcelle Oppermann was born in Cape Town, South Africa. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with majors in English and Psychology from the University of the Western Cape. Audrey's Aromatic Adventure is her first self-published children's book. She lives in Melbourne, Australia with her husband and daughter.
Marcelle is a humanitarian at heart. She has a special interest in the wellbeing of children and in particular disadvantaged young people, hence her studies in psychology, health and social welfare and other healing modalities. A charity that she supports is Plan International. Here is an active link to their website: www.plan-uk.org
Illustrator, Karen Le Roux was born in Edinburgh, Scotland. She is a self-taught artist and a qualified aromatherapist. At the time Karen was contracted to create the illustrations for Audrey's Aromatic Adventure, she, her husband Craig and their three children lived in South Africa where Karen taught art at a private school. Karen and her family now live in Western Australia.
About the book:
Audrey is an eight year old girl who lives with her grandparents and younger brother. She spends hours playing with her dolls and simply enjoying the many scents from the beautiful fruit trees and aromatic herbs on their Capetonian residence.
Audrey is blessed with an active imagination and an inner curiosity that can be admired. Find out how this curiosity and sense of adventure gets Audrey into a bit of a "pickle". She is blessed with lovingly stern grandparents who choose to empower her with loving discipline and creativity.
The beautiful illustrations depict a South African Cape Dutch farm home that is commonly seen along the famous Wine Route of South Africa. The aromatic theme is a direct reflection on the author's interest in aromatherapy and aromatic crafting.
