In this first book of three about the "Purple Pencil", children learn the important difference of being tolerant vs. having to tolerate. Toley Ranz guides children with his "10-point guide of common sense behavior" in their quest of becoming tolerant. Toley Ranz is the voice in all of us. With his "Psst-psst" he appears to children reminding them to listen to their "gut feeling" and introduces the skills, knowledge and attitudes as parts of tolerance. Toley Ranz teaches social skills, embraces differences in ethnic backgrounds and provides guidelines for school and home. He introduces positive attitudes especially for negative situations.
