Andy is bored and asks his mom what he could do. She says we'll go for a walk in the park and play the number game. We will count to ten, finding different things in the park to represent each number. They start to walk and Andy spots one squirrel scampering around looking for acorns on the ground. Next, he sees two police cars parked side by side and then three boys on a swing. As they walk on, Andy counts four girls playing tennis, five joggers running by who all call out to him, and six children in a sandbox. Soon, as they continue their walk, Andy gets the delicious smell of hot dogs on a grill and counts seven people cooking. They call out to him, asking if he wants some. As Andy and his mom walk on, he counts eight soccer players, nine ducks marching in a straight line, and ten yellow daffodils. His mother says that it is time for a treat. As the ice cream man gets their order, Andy counts eleven children eating ice cream bars. His mother says, What a surprise! / You went more then ten. / This is a game to play again and again.
