When he is teased by his friends and family because he can’t hop and wears jogging shoes, Jeremy, a grasshopper, runs away from home. He soon meets Webster, a worm who’s afraid of the dark, and Sally, a June bug with an attitude. Feeling a kinship, they decide to search for a place where they will be accepted. Separated by a storm, the three frightened bugs search for each other in unfamiliar territory. Their search leads them to The Land of Misfit Bugs, which is run by kind-hearted Hopper, a frog who’s a vegetarian. There they meet bugs who are different like them and yearning for acceptance and companionship. Their ordeals strengthen their friendship and self-reliance. When it is time to return home, the three sad bugs hate to leave their new friends, but long to be reunited with their real families. The Land of Misfit Bugs is a story about being proud of who you are, having respect for others and appreciating the value of friendship.
