This text guides students through Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet", looking closely at extracts from each act. Students use role-play and hot-seat activities to develop their understanding of the main characters and the reasons they behave as they do. In addition, a variety of tasks are used to access Shakespeare's language, while key questions help to draw out important themes. Pupils practice ways of recording the development of the plot and use this as a source of reference to produce written course work. The text provides comprehensive coverage of English National Curriculum requirements for Key Stage 4 students working at levels 2 to 4, and is particularly aimed at thoses students who have special educational needs. Language work is integrated throughout, along with purposeful reading, writing, speaking and listening activities. The book is part of the "Hodder English GOLD" series which aims to provide a quality English programme in line with National Curriculum requirements, and used in conjuction with units from the coursebook, it offers preparation for GCSE qualification.
