Do not include a self-addressed, stamped envelope and do not send the only copy of your manuscript—we are not responsible for lost or damaged material, and we will no longer return submission materials. Do not send manuscripts on disks; we will review hard copy only. We do not accept manuscripts by fax or email. We will not respond to emailed submissions or queries. If you are submitting a picture book, please send a cover letter and the full manuscript. If you are submitting a novel, please send: a cover letter, a one-page synopsis (including all major plot points), and 25 pages of text. Please do not include reply cards. We regret that we cannot acknowledge receipt of the manuscript nor can we guarantee personal responses or response times. If we are interested in your submission, we will respond within six months of receipt. We highly recommend that you review as many children’s books as possible, including those published by Knopf and Crown, before submitting your work to us so that you will have a better understanding of our publishing needs.
