I am an Author, Illustrator, Artist, an Horticulturalist with AS and BS degrees, a father of one daughter and a grandfather of three precious girls. I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2002 after beginning my college career in 1968. Life interrupts. I began my art life at age 5, my green thumbs began at age 8, now that green has crept to my shoulders, and I started writing poetry at age 16, a skill that always made my wife smile. She passed away after 34 years of a good marriage. I can trace my artistic and writing abilities back a few generations. One of those family things. I have had my successes and failures. The failures we look at, learn from and add that to our success trials. I have done art and craft shows, gallery showings, been published in small presses, newsletters, some self publishing. I created several lines of fine craft, worked in nearly all the pigment forms, collage, mixed media, I was doing Pollock when Pollock was doing Pollock, but I was only 8 and didn't know I was doing Pollock. Enough of that. I do abstract to realism, even cartoon illustrations. I sculpted until that blew out my wrists from the hammer and chisel. Most recently I have been doing a series of Angel Images, religious to erotic, begun by seeing my Wife’s angel, received a few commissions to do portraits; a series of garment and fashion designs in collaboration with Lakesha Harrison who constructs what I design, our company will be called The Butterfly. I also am in collaboration with another Jacketflap member, Sharon Cupp Pennington, on a Children's book titled Katie's Lucky Leaves. Sharon wrote the text, I have just completed the illustrations, I gathered a recipe significant to the story and wrote a short poem at the end. I have also recently taken a contract to write a novel, an historical romance and tragedy, fictionalized from a particular segment of a family’s genealogical history. I am a member of The Writing Well, a Google Group.
