About Danya
Danya is a natural storyteller and a born communicator.
She has been storytelling for children for many years, at events and gatherings, in theatres and within school settings, writing many stories herself and retelling those drawn from tales, myths and legends from around the world. Children are naturally drawn to her. She has developed her own individual style of interactive stories and those told with table top puppets, that she designs and makes for the story.
Danya also enjoys storytelling with and for adults.
She enjoys working with teachers during inset days, training days, early years forums and conferences, sharing her love for stories, poems and songs whilst offering skills and techniques to weave them into the children’s lives, enlivening learning across the curriculum.
In 2009 Danya fulfilled a life long ambition when she, and her storytelling colleague Louise Coigley, performed "It was a Dark and Stormy Night" a storytelling show based on the wonderful book by Janet and Alan Ahlberg at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. They were thrilled to be named in The List's hit list for top 5 children's shows of the festival, and to receive a 4* star review.
Danya's background is in theatre production and management.
