About Susie Morgenstern
Morgenstern, born in the U.S. but who has lived much of her adult life (more than 30 years) in France, is an award-winning author of dozens of books, many of them for children. She is extremely popular in France where she is frequently invited to speak to both children and adults. In 2000, she was France's nominee for the prestigious IBBY Hans Christian Andersen Award for the literary excellence of the body of her work. The HCA Award is the Children's Literature equivalent of the Nobel Award for Adult Literature. This book won 18 prizes including the French equivalent of the Newbery. American readers have had little chance to read most of Ms. Morgenstern's books but several of them are now available in translation in the U.S., including “A Book of Coupons” and “It Happened at School: Two Tales.” Sponsored by the Alliance Francaise of Milwaukee, co-sponsored by UW-Madison's Center for Interdisciplinary French Studies, and organized in collaboration with the French Cultural Services of Chicago. In French and English. Morgenstern has written more than 40 books.
