This book is a great piece for discussion of this event, and would allow for different people to give their own interpretations. The pictures are easy to follow, colorful, and give realistic scenarios. An ark would be very dirty with all of the animals, and Spier showed that. The illustrations are displayed in various panels from two page spreads, full page, and one and a half page spreads. Some were in sequence panels and some you could go from either one and know what was happening. The colors were somewhat muted, except for the rainbow at the end. The lines in the pictures are essential for the horizon and the hills and valleys, as well as, the movement in the ocean and the wind. There are funny interactions in the illustrations, the elephant stepping on the mouse’s tail, and an owl standing on another one while he is trying to sleep.
