Atelierglv said: This story needs no explanation, the illustrations are what endear one to this edition of the classic swiss story. I did get stuck in my reading of this german edition of the story as i got confused to what "it " referred to in a sentence at times- especially in german a young girl is also referred to as "it" as well as a chair or mountain and all these could be referred to in a sentence( a brainful when first learning german plus my feminist mentality hated seing a young girl being referred to as it while a young boy is referred to as he or him.
Regardless it is still an inspiring story for a young girl who is bounced around within family after the death of her parents. And the relationship and the value of a grandfather who values her and endears to her. The friendship and trust she builds as she has settles for a number of years in the mountain. How she values other people. She doesn't need money to make her happy. I wish people would learn this valuable parable in this story. tags: I read, I recommend, Inspired me |
