This text of this book is great for emergent readers because they can make the sound of the animal they see, and the repetitive phrase of the spider is easily memorized. The themes of this book are implicit, and one could say that hard work pays off. Commentary on Art: Once again, Carle creates bold, daring combinations of color and texture. Some of the pieces are his unique painted tissue paper technique, and some have added drawn in lines. All the negative space is white, which really draws your attention to the animals and colors. There is also texture on the fly and the web for added stimulation.
