About Dwayne
Dwayne Conyers completed undergraduate studies prior to entering the United States Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. He supported the Commander in Chief, United States Air Forces in Europe. This position presented opportunities to brief high ranking officials, including Sen. Gordon Humphrey (R-NH), Rep. Patricia Schroeder (D-CO), NATO Officials and members of the French Air Force.
During his assignments, he found opportunities to express his creative side; writing and producing training videos and audiovisual briefings. These were widely distributed throughout the Air Force, to two US Army Commands, and to one US Navy Fleet. He left the military just prior to pinning on a below-the-zone promotion to Major.
Post-military, he developed his screenwriting skills, graduating top of his class in the Warner Bros. Comedy Writers Workshop with Samm-Art Williams. He also studied screenwriting with Mark Lapadula at the University of Pennsylvania, Luigi DiFonzo at Harvard, Michael Hague, and Carl Sautter via the American Film Institute.
Through Lapadula, he obtained representation with a Hollywood Manager and was assigned an episode of the late ABC series Living Dolls (starring Halle Berry and Leah Remini). He later accepted an offer to spend a year in the Republic of Singapore where he worked with American, British and Singaporean personnel to produce a series of interactive training videos.
Returning to the United States, he produced independent film “High Point,” raising the majority of the production budget and arranging foreign and domestic distribution opportunities. Concurrently, his writing won numerous honors, including 2nd Place in the OBS Screenplay Competition, a score of 8 out of 10 on the Black List, honors at the Beverly Hills Film Festival and the Cinequest Film Festival.
Dwayne currently writes and produces multiple web series while continuing to polish his numerous feature specs and TV pilots. He is also writing memoirs detailing his experiences as a consultant working in the White House (and for several cabinet-level agencies) for several years.
As a member of Veterans in Film and Television (VFT), he was selected by the Writers Guild of America Foundation to participate in a one-year workshop for veterans. Following its conclusion, he then completed a filmmaking fellowship with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA).
