Description:
Ernst Fuchs Chapel, Apocalypse Chapel , Klagenfurt With Della Burford
Painting at the Old Masters/New Visions with Philip Rubinov Jacobson and had a dream. My dream was to see Ernst Fuchs Chapel in Klagenfurt. Many people said they wanted to go but couldn't but as it is with Vision Quests I was meant to go alone. As often on a Quest there was many obstacles. At 5:30 in the morning I missed the train. I had to wait 1-½ hours till the next one. Finally it came and I zoomed past green fields and farms. Three trains and 7-8 hours later I arrived. Finally a taxi took me to St. Egyd after looking it up on his iphone. Someone pointed to the custodians by a door. I went to him and he said, "Go away, I am on holiday!" I said I came from Canada, he said he didn't care and "Go away". Fortunately a man named Thomas saw what happened and said he would call the priest and arrange for me to see it at 6 just before another ceremony was to take place. I knew I must stay the night and a waitress at the restaurant across the street recommended the Palace Porcia. I went here and later found out coincidentally this is the hotel that Ernst Fuchs stayed at when painting the Chapel. When in my room the Receptionist called me and said the electricity had gone out in the halls because of a terrible storm and not to be afraid. They came and got me with a flashlight to go to the Chapel.
When I got to St. Egyd's it was peaceful inside. It had rained so hard that some water had come in the roof and there was a small puddle. A priest dressed in black came in and finally the door to the adjacent Apocalypse Chapel was opened. The radiance of the room was like walking through heaven's door. The colors were so vibrant. The story was one of light battling against darkness. I saw the painting not only surround me but go over the ceiling. I felt like I had walked into a jewel. Light won over the darkness. My dream had come true. I saw the brilliance of Ernst Fuchs work.
I went back on the train by green meadows and fairytale villages. Yes my dream had come true but best of all I could share it with you.
