Description:
The story goes: The Bird Men of Papantla were watched and recorded by Artist Della Burford in Puerta Vallarta. They do a ceremony for fertility and a good harvest that gets passed down from fathers and uncles to sons or nephews. They climb a 30 metre pole and fall backwards off the pole and with ropes attached fly in circles to the ground. They must have 13 revolutions which is the months of the Mayan Calendar and with four of them make 52 revolutions. One plays the flute and small drum to pay homage to the four directions, seasons and winds. Della watched them 12 times and painted an artistic interpretation of the energy she felt in watercolor and mixed with collage the paintings and photos. Rob helped in the feedback. The music was done by Sa Ra Ga Ma and is called Air from The Four Elements album - it is from Creative Commons. Della thanks everyone so much. www.woodstreamstudio.com
