Dr. Ottavi has focused the last 13 years on advancement of therapeutic school programming for youth with serious mental health issues. He has been willing to “dig in” with educational team efforts for difficult attachment issue cases. He has assisted many educators in applying and advancing their natural therapeutic skills with attachment issue students. His sigificant emphasis on parent involvement has also provided excellent information and confirmed how essential parent input is for success.

After working with hundreds of attachment and trauma issue cases, he focused efforts on development of a model and matching interventions in his 2007 book Why Is Johnny So Detached? A School Professionals Guide to Understanding and Helping Students With Attachment Issues (WJSD). WJSD is an applied book with background on attachment issues and strategies, assessment tools, case examples, and intervention worksheets to apply attachment based and relationship building approaches from research and theory in psychology.
