Susan Sloate is the author of 17 young-adult books, including the 2007 RAY CHARLES: Find Another Way! from Bearport Publishing, which won the silver medal in the 2007 Moonbeam Children's Book Awards. Her newest novel, STEALING FIRE, has twice been honored in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest (2008 and 2009).

She has written both fiction and non-fiction, contributing to four separate girls' fiction book series, along with five biographies, a collected biography of baseball players, and a book on teen fashion. Her 2003 adult novel, FORWARD TO CAMELOT, co-authored with Kevin Finn, was a #6 Amazon bestseller, took honors in three literary competitions and has been optioned to a Hollywood film production company.

Her MYSTERIES UNWRAPPED: The Secrets of Alcatraz from Sterling, was published in 2008. As a result, Susan was asked to be an expert speaker on a MYSTERYQUEST special on Alcatraz for The History Channel in September 2009.

She has also written two short plays, both of which she co-directed in their world premiere performances. She has optioned two additional screen works to Hollywood film companies, done sports writing, and written an informational film for McGraw-Hill.
