About steve
Having survived six children as well as 7+ grandkids (and counting), is it any wonder that my passion is writing books that kids will enjoy reading?
Over the years, I have witnessed many children having difficulty learning to read...or count...or overcome obstacles that many of us fortunately have not had to experience.
My work is geared to giving children books that they will enjoy and love to read, all the while having an opportunity to overcome learning difficulties and thus gain skills that will enable them to grow as young people.
I am new to this 'writing business' as I have only begun writing at the tender young age of 51. Having to leave my occupation due to an auto-immune disease in May of 2007, I was actually given a gift...I could no longer ignore the call to what I have wanted to do all of my life. I could now become a writer.
As any writer will tell you, writing is great...getting published however is WONDERFUL! I was finally able to get my first work "The Alphabet Mall" published by a small house in the early months of 2008. I have another book that focuses on counting skills titled "In The Pond" that I am sending out to be published as well.
I have a number of other works completed that I am trying to find interest in (agent) including a book titled "Sq'Whirls" about a young boy who may finally find the "spark" that he needs to overcome his physical disabilities by his interest in some new-found forrest friends.
Also in the works is a three book series for older children and young adults which focus upon a young "Story Teller Without Peer" who learns that life in the late Middle Ages can be a fascinating experience...and a great learning one as well. I utilize humor throughout these works, but I would not classify them as funny books. For Tenn's adventures in "Tales From the Castle of Arlington Green" take him anywhere from a battle of wits with a false wizard, learning the very expensive lesson that you NEVER win an arguement with a woman, to becomming the Battle Commander of the Militia of Arlington Green when events with a neighbor Earl lead to an impending war. Tenn makes many many mistakes, but he learns that personal growth centers around knowledge that we gain by making those mistakes.
As long as these characters keep running around in my head, I will remain poised dilligently at my keyboard. I may be here awhile...they have a lot of room to run around up there!
