At the age of 29, Jo Whittemore has exceeded a goal she set for herself as a child—to publish a novel. She is now the author of three novels: Escape from Arylon, Curse of Arastold, and the new, Onaj’s Horn. A graduate in business from Texas A&M University, she published all three volumes while working full-time as an executive assistant.
Jo has been a member of the SCBWI (Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators) since 2003, is an active member of the Austin SCBWI chapter, and is a founding member of AS IF! (Authors Supporting Intellectual Freedom), an online community that champions those who stand against censorship, especially of books for and about teens. She has been featured in the national magazines For Me, East West, and Audrey, as well as several Austin publications. Jo speaks at magnet and Blue Ribbon schools, was a panelist at the 2006 World Fantasy Convention and will be speaking at this year’s ArmadilloCon in Austin.
