About Carol
Being mostly a self-taught artist, I follow in my father’s footsteps, but as my father died early in life, my footsteps continue on where his left off.
I have drawn from the Celtic culture in my artwork by using some of the symbols and knotwork. My artwork is highly symbolic, with use of placement, color, gesture, subject and nature to portray a message or a story which is personal to my current journey of self-growth.
The main theme in my work is that we live in a great, beautiful and mysterious universe, and if we live in sync with the cycles of nature; humanity and our world will be transformed.
The utopic kernel found in my work is threefold and interrelated. There is more to life than is apparent, and one must dig deeper to find the truth. Everything has a spiritual nature if one looks for the sacred in all things. Creating art is my way of doing that.
I have painted and drawn some 40 commissioned portraits, painted several murals, many signs and offered art classes for a short time. While portraiture has been my main focus, I have also painted other pieces when commissioned.
