I adore so many mediums, but I must say lately, pencil and watercolor have captured my imagination. When I create, I begin to read and the images are conjured up in my mind and swirl around transforming from page to page. The pencil catches the paper and takes off from there!

My name is Tierra Jackson...it's one of those names people find hard to pronounce. Think of it as a "tier" on a wedding cake with the "uh" sound on the end, just two syllables.

Growing up in Wisconsin, I started drawing as soon as I could hold a pencil. Restaurant place mats proved to be early canvases. Long car rides to grandma's with a sketchbook on my lap, were perfect for mastering a steady hand while riding over bumps and turns.

God and my faith is my greatest inspiration. But I have also been inspired by the generous gestures of school teachers such as Mrs. Steuber who would secretly answer my cartoon doodles handed in on my homework with sketches of her own on the returned and graded paper in 3rd grade. And Mr. Gargan who through gently offered criticism cleared my artists eye. Never underestimate the power of a skilled educator!

I have spent the greater part of my professional life as an Art Director and Graphic Designer, creating marketing materials for such companies as Lands' End, American Girl, Arthur Andersen, LLP., Orion Marketing Group and Print-Tech Promotional Group, Henan Prosper, Mt. Olympus Water & Theme Park & others.

To be an artist, that is all I have ever known. Imprinted on my soul from birth and the only thing I’ve been sure of my whole life. I get my greatest joy from the way people react to my work, whether it makes them smile, laugh, shed a tear or recall a memory. It is what I am destined to do and I am eternally grateful and blessed.
