It's online....it's my children's bio entitled "Island Child" and it's available for download at www.sharing-books.com. Originally, Culturatti Ink of Indianapolis was to have published it in hard copy, but backed out. Then I found the children's online publisher, based in Vancouver BC. They're a corporate sponsor of the NGO "Room-to-Read."

So what's "Island Child" about? Whose biography is it?

It's the story of Barack Obama's childhood, through his 10th year, and it's intended for: 3-6 grade students, their teachers and parents, 21st-century history buffs, "Obamamaniacs," and....on the recommendation of an 83-year-old retired university professor, Republicans. "What?" I asked her. "Yes," she replied. "I've been a Republican all my life, and I ought to know what Republicans should read."

This book comes late in my storytelling career, which has been ongoing since 1977. The book idea hit me on Jan. 20, 2009---Inauguration Day---when I was telling "Inauguration Day Stories" for the targeted 3-6 grade students at a school in Canadian Texas. When they were both curious and confused about the story of the man being sworn in as our 44th president, it was evident they needed a book about that. So....here 'tis.

That storytelling career---begun in 1977 has kept me busy for lo! these 30+ years, including serving as the primary founder of the Atlanta-based "Southern Order of Storytellers," an arts advocacy and member-based organization that helps members of the storytelling community, and presents the Winter StoryFest each January (formerly Olde Christmas Storytelling Festival.)That's it for now.....to be continued....
