Hello. My occupation states "writer"; however, I am new to writing. I was a teacher of English for 34 years and am now retired, leaving me time to write. Well, very little time, as I have been caring for my 96 year-old mother who has severe dementia.

I managed to write a middle grade book between the hours of 11:00 P.M. and 4:00 A.M. When I started out, I had no intention of trying to have it published; however, I am pleased with it and even proud of it, and I think it should be read by children not only because there are some
important "lessons" buried within but, more importantly, because I think they would love it (not in a Harry Potter way!).

So now I am hung up on the publishing thing. I need an agent, perhaps, though much of what I've read says it's not really necessary. Well, we'll see.
