I like to delve deeply into my subject matter, research, write, and broaden my horizons and those of my readers. My five published nonfiction books for Lucent, an imprint of Gale/Cengage, introduce young adult readers to difficult, contemporary issues in way that is accessible and compelling. I have addressed hot-button issues such as drug legalization, learning disabilities, obesity and food marketing, as well as lighter fare such as public art and musicians in the subway. Before taking up writing and other educational media projects, I spent years working on documentary television programs and films. I had the opportunity to interview authors, artists, scientists, Holocaust survivors, and other eyewitnesses to historical events while on location in the U.S., Ukraine, Russia, Latin America, and France. I have a Master's Degree in education and have been involved in project work in Boston-area public schools to foster literacy, a love of reading, writing, and the arts among students. I live in Massachusetts with my husband, two teenage children, and our very friendly border terrier.
